Northern Dutchess Hospital Announces Taste of Rhinebeck event

Rhinebeck, NY- March 21, 2012- Northern Dutchess Hospital is pleased to announce the eighth annual “Taste of Rhinebeck” event will be held on Tuesday, April 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Village of Rhinebeck.  Proceeds will benefit Northern Dutchess Hospital Foundation.

The event’s concept is very different from other food festivals in that participants travel on foot around downtown Rhinebeck, stopping to sample gourmet delights from restaurants, caterers, gourmet food and spirit shops along the route.  The entire tasting route covers only a four block radius.

“One of the best parts of this event is that people get to go inside the restaurants and shops and experience the individual charm of each business.  Participants not only get a taste of the incredible food and spirits along the route, but also, a true flavor of the ambiance”, says Deborah Breen, Executive Director of the Foundation.  “There are not many villages that have such a vast array of incredible restaurants within a few blocks of each other. And, to have all of them working together for a common cause that night really highlights their cumulative community spirit and camaraderie with each other!”

The “People’s Choice Awards” will also return this year, giving attendees the opportunity to vote on their favorite appetizer, side dish, main course, dessert and beverage. Last year’s winners were:

Best Appetizer: Gaby’s Café

Best Main Course: Le Petit Bistro

Best Dessert: Breezy Hill Market

Best Beverage: Rhinebeck Wine & Liquor

Best Side Dish: Arielle

Best Overall: Rhinebeck Bagels

New this year will be the “Chef’s Choice Awards”, there will be 5 anonymous culinary trained chefs who will judge in the same categories as the People’s Choice Awards”, giving the participating venues another opportunity to win in their entered category.

The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and participants will have three hours to complete the route.  There will be over 20 official tasting stops along the route including: Rhinebeck Wine & Liquor, Le Petit Bistro, Beekman Arms, Rhinebeck Health Foods, Samuel’s of Rhinebeck, Calico Patisserie, Foster’s Coach House, Old Mill Wine & Spirits, Rhinebeck Farmers Market, Village Pizza, Aroi, Oliver Kita, China Rose, Matchbox Café, Liberty Public House, Arielle, Blue Cashew Kitchen Pharmacy, Bread Alone, Gaby’s Café, Gigi Hudson Valley, Grand Cru, Pete’s Famous, Puccini, Rhinebeck Bagel, and The Rhinecliff.
